11) Self Knowledge (Atmajnan) – Three Bodies (Part 2)

Talk 11 by Prabhuji

Let us continue our contemplation on three bodies

We spoke of three bodies: gross body, subtle body and causal body.

The gross body consists of 5 elements, 5 sense organs, 5 organs of actions and Pancha pranas. In waking state you use the gross body to interact with the physical world. But in dream state, there is no gross body, you forget the gross body, now it is a subtle body. Subtle body enjoys the dream state. It goes through the dream landscapes, it sees many objects in the dream, it interacts with many dream objects. It is a subtle body used for experiencing mental projections. In deep sleep, subtle body is also forgotten and we enter into causal body, body of ignorance and we are not aware of anything. At the time of death the subtle body and the gross body move together to another gross body. At the time of enlightenment, the causal body gets destroyed, and the subtle body has no more support. Jiva realises that ‘I am Brahman’, ‘ I am Pure Consciousness’.  So the ignorance has dropped.

“I am not the body, I am not the mind, I am not the intellect, I am pure Consciousness”, this realization destroys the causal body.
